Hey! I’m Camilla. I’m a writer, editor, and producer.
I have more than ten years of experience in journalism and social impact communications. My work sits at the intersection of social equity and culture, climate resiliency, and the built environment. I’m particularly interested in public space (libraries, museums, parks, gardens) and accessible and regenerative design.
I hold a master’s in magazine journalism from City, University of London, where I specialized in arts and culture, and a bachelor’s in creative writing and media studies with a minor in vocal jazz from the University of Denver.
When I’m not working, I compose and play music (piano, cello, guitar, vocals) and spend time in my local community garden. I’m also an aspiring children’s book writer.
Here’s a selection of my favorite projects
I called Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg on his landline to talk about the 1970s anti-nuclear protests at the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant for the Boulder Weekly.
I interviewed internationally-renowned artist Yoko Ono about a traveling exhibition of John Lennon’s drawings for 5280 Magazine.
I wrote about library design and wartime library destruction for my master’s thesis.
I chronicled the sinister and sensual history of underwear for Disegno.
I recounted the unlikely saga of the beloved goats who escaped Enchanted Hills Camp during the 2017 Nuns Fire in Napa, California. The photographs I took in the aftermath of this fire were also published by KQED.
I filmed, edited, and audio described a short film about blind photographer Alice Wingwall for LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
I wrote, voiced, and produced audio descriptions for The Blind Captain, a documentary about blind educator and kayaker Ahmet Ustunel, directed by Sarahbeth Maney and produced by Nic Jara.
My poem, There are no honest poems about dead women (after Audre Lorde) appeared in the 2018 Pilot Press anthology, A queer anthology of rage.
I led digital strategy and wrote updates for America’s Food Fund, a GoFundMe campaign started by Laurene Powell Jobs and Leonardo DiCaprio to address food insecurity during the pandemic, which raised more than $45M to become the highest-grossing GoFundMe campaign in the platform’s history.
I led digital strategy for artist JR’s Inside Out 11M tour, which captured nearly 2,000 community portraits in 16 cities across seven states to highlight pathways to citizenship for 11M undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.
I wrote a piece of climate micro-fiction that was published in Grist’s Looking Forward newsletter.
